What a week in Kinder!

Congratulations to Our Amazing Students!
We would love to congratulate all the children on their beautiful engagement and behaviour during our excursion on Wednesday. It was truly heartwarming to see so many smiles, hear the laughter, and witness the joy shared by everyone. The day was filled with fun, and your children made it all the more special with their positive attitudes and enthusiasm.
Camp Day!
We are excited to share with you our details for our Kindergarten Camp Day. On Wednesday 6th November 2024 we will be attending Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and upon returning to school will share afternoon tea as a grade. The camp day will conclude at 4:30pm (Please collect your child by 4:30pm from the Adventure Playground).
Camp days are structured to allow students to experience activities that aren't part of day-to-day learning in a classroom context. These days promote self-esteem building, independence, tolerance, co-operation, resourcefulness, leadership and determination, where learning is stimulated through a sense of excitement, wonder and purpose. It is for this reason that camp days continue past the usual end of school time until 4:30pm as we accompany children to develop interpersonal skills required in group settings, independent of family.
What to Bring:
Recess and lunch: Please pack recess and lunch for your child. Don't forget a refillable water bottle.
Comfortable Clothing: Mufti clothes. Students will wear school hat and bring a small backpack.
Sun Protection: Please apply sunscreen to your child before coming to school to protect them from the sun. (We will have sunscreen for your child to reapply during the day.)
Term 4 Homework
Homework procedures for Term 4 will remain the same as Terms 2 and 3. Please return your child’s homework folder on Mondays and Thursdays so that home readers can be changed. This term, we are focusing on "nonsense words" as part of our homework activities. Nonsense words are made-up words that help children apply their phonemic (sound) knowledge to decode unfamiliar words. Practicing these words strengthens their ability to break down real words, improving reading fluency and comprehension. Please note that some sections in the booklet mention that the teacher will circle specific words for your child to read. However, we ask that you disregard this instruction and encourage your child to read all the words in each section.
Reminder: Transitioning to Year 1 - Orange Lunch Box Tub
This term, we’ll begin preparing the students for their transition to Year 1—hard to believe how fast the time has flown! One of the changes involves the orange lunch box tub. Starting from Week 2, on Tuesdays and Fridays, the students will now place their lunch bags in the tub located at the front of the canteen. They will be responsible for taking their lunch bags to the canteen on these mornings.
