Handball with Buddies!

This week our Year 1 students enjoyed handball session with their Year 5 buddies. It was a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to learn the rules and skills of handball while building confidence, resilience, and positive friendships.
With the guidance and encouragement of their older buddies, Year 1 students are learning to take turns, solve problems, persevere when challenges arise, and celebrate both successes and setbacks. It's been fantastic to see the kindness, teamwork, and leadership shown by our Year 5 students as they support and mentor their younger peers.

On Friday of Week 11, students received some extra practice sheets covering the digraphs and trigraphs we have learned throughout Term 2. These sheets are a wonderful tool to use at home with your child for extra consolidation of their learning before the new term begins. To guide them through it, please encourage your child to read the words using our classroom routine: first, point to and say the sound at the top of the page; next, point to the first word, sound it out, and then blend it together to state the whole word. The students are already very familiar with this process from our daily reading groups! Thank you so much for your continued support in partnering with us for your child's reading journey.
