1 Minute Reads!

Another great fortnight in Year 3! We have been practising our reading fluency with a high 'bang for buck' approach. The children work with a partner and each have a go at reading as much of a passage as they can (with accuracy) in 1 minute. They then read the passage again for 1 minute and try to get past the point in which they got to on their first read. This promotes pace in their reading to help build fluency. The students love this challenge and is something that could be easily implemented at home to further consolidate this.

On a sporting front there has been lots happen in the last two weeks. Firstly congratulations to our rugby league team who played in the O'Dwyer Shield last Sunday. The boys played with heart and determination and will be bigger and better next year. Secondly to our netball team who participated in the Gala Day through the week. From all reports the girls played with good spirit and braved the challenging conditions without a fuss! Finally, we congratulate our Dio Cross Country runners in Brooklyn and Carter who made the trip to Woolgoolga. What an achievement to make the diocesan level and we wish Carter continued success in his efforts at Polding. 

And last but not least, well done to those beginning their confirmation journey! We look forward to helping you throughout the term to prepare for this and thank all of our parents for making the time to attend the information session.
