Working hard!

Year 1 has been learning all about narratives.  We have talked about how stories have a beginning, middle and end, characters and a setting.  Year 1 also learned about time connectives like first, then, next and finally to help us tell our stories in order. We enjoyed creating a story map of the text The Great Rabbit Chase using these time connectives.

In mathematics, we have been learning all about patterns and measurement.  We explored patterns and learned how to repeat and create our own using colours, shapes and objects.

We also learned how to measure length using informal units, like blocks, paddle pop sticks and hands.  Then we explored area by covering spaces with objects to see how big they are.  We had lots of fun working out the area of our own shoes.

We are becoming great mathematicians!
