This term in Year 5, we’ve been diving into the wonderful world of poetry, and what an adventure it’s been!
From exploring rhyme and rhythm to experimenting with similes, repetition and alliteration, our students have had a blast discovering their inner poets. We’ve talked about how poetry can express emotions, tell stories and make people laugh, and it’s safe to say Year 5 have done all of that and more.
To celebrate all of their creative efforts, we’ve uploaded each student's Poetry Anthology to Seesaw. These anthologies showcase the amazing work our students have created over the past few weeks. We encourage all families to jump on Seesaw and enjoy reading through their child’s collection. It’s something to be really proud of!
Last Thursday, students teamed up in pairs to create original poems and were then invited to perform them for the class. Every student gave it their all, and the results were fantastic, clever and absolutely hilarious. It was a joy to see so much confidence, creativity and collaboration on display.
We are so proud of the way Year 5 embraced this unit with enthusiasm and imagination. Keep an eye out. We might have some future poets in the making!
Public Speaking:
Congratulations to the students who competed in our class public speaking! You impressed us with your confident eye contact, well-memorised speeches, ability to engage the audience, and the bravery it takes to speak in front of a crowd. A special congratulations must go to Violet for making it through to the Tweed Regional Public Speaking Finals. Good luck, Violet!
