The Thing About Alfred

Homework is detailed below in the what’s on this week and can be accessed through the parent resources tab.

Students have been given a Reconciliation book that goes home to complete homework pages. There are also parental pages to go through with your child that give you further information. Each week we use them on Monday and then they will be sent home. They need to be back at school on Thursday and they will go home again that afternoon. On Thursday and Monday your child will have to bring back their Reconciliation books back for the remainder of the term. This is all in preparation for our upcoming Reconciliation day on Thursday the 3rd of April between 5 and 6pm (More details will follow).

In the small amount of time we had together in Week 6, we all shared our experience with Cyclone Alfred in pastoral care groups. This inspired many students to write about Cyclone Alfred for their English Narratives from their perspective. Before writing, we planned out our narratives to ensure we follow the correct narrative structure: orientation, rising action, complication, falling action and the resolution, which includes a coda (moral/message). Students then drafted a narrative and published it on a Google document. There were so many incredible stories shared and we placed a high importance in showing us through figurative langauge rather than just recounting the story.
